Research & Scholarship

Finance: Bauer's Finance Department was ranked #1 in the entire Gulf region and #2 in Texas in the most recent Financial Management ranking survey based on faculty research. This study surveyed over 1000 finance departments world-wide, so the overall #45 ranking puts the Finance department in the top 5% in the world.

MIS: Bauer's MIS Department ranked #1 in research productivity among IS departments in the Gulf Coast according to a recent study "Business School Research Performance: An Update" from Indiana University's Professor Alan R. Dennis published in the Academy of Management Journal. This study placed us #17 worldwide.

Management: Bauer's Management department is one of only five U.S. schools with multiple Academy of Management Journal Hall of Fame Members. Cullen Chair Professor John Ivancevich is the #1 ranked Hall of Fame Member, with Baker Hughes Professor Robert Keller also one of the 33 people in the world selected to be AOMJ Hall of Fame Members.

Marketing: The Chronicle of Higher Education and Academic Analytics ranked Bauer #9 among leading research universities for faculty scholarly productivity in marketing in 2007. Bauer scores in the Top 50 for Marketing scholarship. A recent evaluation of publications in leading Marketing journals over a fifteen year period puts UH in 34th place worldwide (Cote, "Institutional Productivity in Nine Major Journals From 1984-1999").
