Meet our Dean - dr. arthur warga
The Bauer College of Business is on a path to greatness fueled by the support of a superb faculty, highly capable staff, passionate alumni, brilliant students and the generosity of business partners and leaders dedicated to the future of our youth and our nation. I have had the good fortune to serve as Bauer College’s Dean during some of the most exciting times in our sixty-year history. Shortly before I assumed my current role, our vision to become a premier metropolitan business school was jump-started by a $40 million gift from The College’s namesake, C.T. (Ted) Bauer.
Since 2001, we have pursued a strategic plan designed to achieve our vision. We have added 10-15 new faculty members each year with a total of 57 new additions to our faculty team. We have welcomed 15 new chairs and professors, 27 associate and assistant professors, and 15 clinical and executive professors - bringing our total faculty count to 166.
We have revamped the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, including the new Global Studies Sequence, the Professional Program in Accountancy, the Accounting Certificate in Energy, and a new eiLab where students can safely build and tear down complex security systems. In 2006 we launched two new EMBA programs: one for energy professionals in Beijing and one for medical professionals at The Methodist Hospital System. We now have 10 research centers and institutes. We are the only comprehensive business school in the Houston area offering BBA, MBA, Ph.D., and MS Accountancy and Finance degrees. Our departments have outstanding alumni advisory boards which add excitement and relevance to the departments’ programs.
Our efforts have not gone without notice.
- Bauer recently ranked #40 in BusinessWeek's 2008 list of the top public undergraduate schools of business in the U.S.
- BusinessWeek also included Bauer in its 2007 list of the top 30 Best Part-Time MBA Programs. The evening MBA program ranked 27th in the nation and 4th in the Southwest.
- Bloomberg Markets, September 2004, ranks our MBA programs 12th in the nation and 5th among public universities in producing CEOs of S&P 500 companies.
- The 2004 Financial Times’ evaluation of the top 75 EMBA programs in the world ranks our EMBA programs 17th in the U.S. among public programs.
We are also proud of our diversity. According to the Department of Education, we are foremost in the nation for producing minority BBAs in business, management, marketing and related support services. In the same categories, we are Texas’ top producer of African American and Asian BBAs and second nationally for Hispanic BBAs. With nearly 80 different languages spoken by our students and our largest “minority” being white, it is safe to say we define diversity.
The C.T. Bauer College of Business continues to strive for excellence. Join us and see the tremendous energy pouring into the community and the world from the Bauer College of Business.
Welcome to Bauer!
