9am - 4pm

What:  BBA Basics is an information session designed to give new and prospective pre-business majors an overview of Bauer College programs and requirements, and initial advising and career information.  It is part of a pre-business student support program called the Bauer Experience.

When & Where: BBA Basics is offered on Fridays except for weeks of special events or holidays. During the UH Orientation Program, BBA Basics is presented at the Bauer College session and is open to everyone!  Students who do not register with the Dean of Students for the entire Orientation program may only attend this portion of Orientation.  Check-in is at the front desk in 262 Melcher Hall, on the second floor, at the top of the stairs.  (For a BBA Basics schedule, see below.)

Who:  BBA Basics is open to all students or prospective pre-business majors, but is especially designed for the newly admitted student.  Students newly admitted to Bauer College are expected to attend a BBA Basics session or Orientation prior to registration their first semester.  Newly admitted students who are unable to attend a BBA Basics session or Orientation should contact the Office of Undergraduate Business Programs to make alternate arrangements, at bba@uh.edu, or (713) 743-4900. All new USD freshmen are required to be advised by USD.  Once they are advised and registered, they are welcome to attend a BBA Basics information session on business.

How to Prepare: If it is during a registration cycle, newly admitted students who plan to schedule courses and register should be prepared before attending BBA Basics or Orientation with the following:

  • Request all transcripts to be sent to UH and check to make sure they have been evaluated. To check on admission status and the evaluation of transfer courses, log on to your account.
  • Take the Math Placement Exam and other placement exams if required.
  • Complete THEA and bring the results.
  • If it is during a registration cycle, check the “Enrollment Schedule” for your time to register, and “Course Listing” for courses offered the upcoming semester on the Registrar’s website

What Else:  Prior to BBA Basics, there are tours of Melcher Hall, the business building.  Building tours will not be given on orientation dates.  Check-in is in 262 Melcher Hall.  Campus tours are held at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm by the Office of Admissions, in 128 Welcome Center.
