AUSTRALIA AMBASSADOR: Stephen Teo  (stephen.teo@uws.edu.au)

 

 

Professor Stephen Teo is Associate Dean (Academic) in the College of Business, University of Western Sydney (Australia). Stephen has a PhD from the Australian Centre in Strategic Management at the Queensland University of Technology. Prior to joining academe, he has ten years professional experience in the banking and public sectors in Malaysia and Australia. Professor Teo held various academic appointments at University of Technology Sydney (Australia), Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macquarie Graduate School of Management (Australia), and Queensland University of Technology (Australia).

 

Professor Teo's research and consulting interest is in the evaluation of HRM effectiveness, focusing on the status and influence of the HRM function in strategic decision making processes. He has presented his research at international conferences such as the US Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, American Psychological Association, British Academy of Management, the Asia Academy of Management and the US Academy of Management, where he received a best paper award from the Public and Nonprofit Division of the US Academy of Management. He has published over 70 refereed publications in the areas of Strategic HRM and International HRM in top ranking international journals such as Human Resource Management (USA, Wiley), International Journal of HRM, International Business Review, Public Management Review, Journal of Organizational Change Management, and Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources.

 

Professor Teo is an editorial board member of Public Management Review, Journal of Small Business Management, Research and Practice in Human Resource Management, Career Development International, Sports Management Review and Deakin Business Review. In addition, he reviews grants for the Australian Research Council and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. He is a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute and a Senior Associate of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance.
