BOTSWANA AMBASSADOR: Dorothy Mpabanga (MPABANGA@mopipi.ub.bw)

 

Dorothy. Mpabanga (PhD) is a Deputy Director in the Center of Specialization in Public Administration and Management (CESPAM) and lecturer of Human Resource Management in the Department of Political and Administrative Studies (PAS), University of Botswana. CESPAM is a centre that offers short term executive training for SADC leaders and managers in public administration and management. Dorothy obtained her undergraduate degree in Public Administration and Sociology from the University of Botswana, an MSC in Development Economics and Project Planning and Appraisal from the University of Bradford in the UK. Mpabanga holds a PhD in Human Resource Management from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland in the UK. 

Dorothy lectures at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Before joining the University of Botswana, Mpabanga brought in with her vast industry experience. She had worked for eleven (11) years at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as an Industrial and Senior Industrial Officer (Project Analyst) and for three (3) years at the Central Bank of Botswana as a Research Officer and Acting Senior Economist. She has various publications in Human Resource Management, Constraints to industrial Development in Botswana, NGO management, Performance Management Systems, ICT in Botswana, governance, elections and electoral processes in Botswana. She has facilitated in many workshops including:

  • Strategic planning and management,
  • Performance Management Systems, Balance Score Card
  • HRM, diversity management,
  • HRM in the military at the Centre for strategic studies at UB and at WITS University Centre for Defense and Security Management in South Africa,
  • Policy Formulation and Advocacy skills for NGOs in SADC.

She holds membership to various bodies including The Democracy Research Project at UB; The American Academy of Management, New York; Performance Management Association (PMA); Canfield University, UK; The International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM) UK; European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM), Brussels.
