AMBASSADOR: Michal Biron (M.Biron@uvt.nl)
Dr. Michal Biron was recently appointed a faculty
member at the School of Management at the University of Haifa.
In 2007 she joined the Department of Human Resource Studies in Tilburg University,
the Netherlands
in 2007 as a post-doctoral research fellow. She received her PhD in Human
Resource Management and Industrial Relations from the Faculty of Industrial
Engineering and Management at the Technion, Israel
Institute of Technology.
Michal's current research focuses on (1) the nature of peer relations in
the workplace and the implications of such relations for both individuals and
the organizations in which they work; (2) HR management in service
organizations, with a particular emphasize on emotional regulation strategies
and job control issues (2) exchange and normative-based models and their
effects on employee deviance; and (4) performance management practices in
high performing work systems.
Michal's work was presented in international conferences (awarded best
paper in the HR division at the Academy
of Management HR Division for 3
years in a row) and published in top HRM and OB
journals (e.g., Journal of Vocational Behavior, Organizational Behavior and
Human Decision Processes). She serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for the Academy of Management Journal, Group and
Organization Management and Journal of Occupational and
Organizational Psychology.
She has received several awards, including the Academy of Management HR
Division Foundation Dissertation Award and the Sloan
Industry Studies Site Visit Grant. Her teaching experience includes
HRM-related as well as methodological courses, and supervising graduate
students. In recent years she has organized and chaired track sessions and
symposia (European Academy of Management, European Academy
of Occupational Health Psychology).
