Chris Brotherton, BA, (Hull) Dip Soc Studies (Oxford), PhD (Hull) Fellow of British Psychological Society, Fellow of Royal Society of Arts, Fellow of Higher Education Academy, Chartered Psychologist. Emeritus Professor Chris Brotherton was, until recently, Foundation Professor of Applied Psychology at Heriot-Watt University, Scotland. He had previously been Professor of Occupational Psychology at the University of Ulster and Senior Lecturer in Occupational Psychology at University of Nottingham. He has held Visiting Professorships at Tianjin University of Commerce, China and at The University of Malawi.

 

Chris has had a long association with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in the UK where he assisted in the development of a range of short courses in Psychology and Management. He has published extensively in work psychology and in occupational health and safety.

 

He has researched in such topics as equal opportunities and selection, negotiating and industrial relations, economic development, and health and safety in small and medium sized businesses. In 2008 Chris was awarded a life time achievement award by the Division of Occupational Psychology of the British Psychological Society.
