(raghuram@psu.edu) Sumita
Raghuram is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management at Sumita’s
research areas include Distance Work (including Telecommuting and
Outsourcing) and International HRM. Her research studies on telecommuting
have been published in journals such as Organization Science, Journal of
Management and Human Resource Management. In her empirical studies Sumita has
explored the impact of remote work on organizational identity, stress and
overall adjustment. Sumita finds that communication media, individual
differences (such as, need for affiliation and self-efficacy) and
organizational practices play a critical role. Sumita and her colleagues
recently completed a bibliometric study (forthcoming in Information Systems
Research) mapping the evolution of different research clusters in the field
of virtual work. In
her research on international HRM, published in the International Journal of
Human Resource Management, Sumita examined the role of country culture in
predicting use of flexible work practices across 20 European countries.
Currently, Sumita is engaged in research with Indian IT organizations where
she is studying the HR practices in the industry. One of her recent papers
explores evolution of identities across cultures as a consequence of
transnational work. In addition, she is continuing to examine systematic
variances in HR practices across several European countries. Sumita
received her MBA from XLRI, |
