Some notes for Computer Assignment 2

Computer Assignment 2 is due on April 1 (MW sections) or April 2 (TTH sections).

DO NOT WORK ON QUESTIONS 7 & 8.
ON QUESTION 1, PASTE THE PLOT AND COMMENT ON WHAT YOU SEE.
ON QUESTION 2, THERE IS NOTHING TO ANSWER.

The assignment should be turned in in class, on the due date, in your corresponding class section. If you cannot come to class that day, get another student to bring your assigment to class. No fax or e-mail submissions will be accepted.

First, you should print the files NOISE.DAT and NOISE.TXT and read them carefully. How many columns do you have in NOISE.DAT? What kind of data do you have on each column? Then, you need to run MINITAB. Essentially, you need three commands:

• READ
  to read the data file, as you did in your first computer assignment. Be sure to write the complete path between apostrophes, and to specify the correct number of columns (which is 2).
• PLOT C1*C2
  to obtain the plot requested in question 1. Note that there should be an asterisk between C1 and C2. Paste this plot in your answer question 1. Comment on what you see on this plot. Do the sample mean for the five groups appear to be significantly different? Which group means appear to be different from the others? In which direction?
• ONEWAY for the stacked data in C1 with groups as defined in C2
  to answer questions 3, 4, 5, 6. Question 3 can be answered directly form the information in the output. Questions 4, 5, 6 require additional hand calculations and manipulations to be explained in class.
• IN SUMMARY, you need only three MINITAB commands:
  

  READ 'filepath\NOISE.DAT' C1 C2 PLOT C1*C2 ONEWAY C1 C2

You have to print the contents of two windows: the session window and the graph window. (To print the graph window, for example, click "Window/Plot C1*C1/File/Print Window".)

The rules for typing the assignment are the same as for Computer Assignment 1, as explained in "General instructions for turning in computer assignments".
