  • Application

How can I qualify for a GMAT/GRE waiver?
    • GMAT waivers may be available for qualified applicants based on professional experience, internship experience, or strong academic performance at the undergraduate level. In order to verify your eligibility for GMAT waiver, you must submit an online application and all other admissions requirements for admission committee review. For more information, email: msprograms@bauer.uh.edu
    • To request a waiver, simply make the waiver request in your Applyweb application before submitting it.
    • Please note that competitive GMAT/GRE scores may help your chances of admission and being awarded merit aid.
How will I find out whether I have been accepted or denied admission to the program?

Decisions are conveyed by phone or email.

    When is the admission deadline?
    • The Fall admissions deadline is June 1 of each year and April 1 for international students.
    • Since this is a cohort-based program, students can only begin the MS in August of each year.

A $50 application fee payment is required.

    No.

  • Program Structure

Should I apply for the MS or MBA?
    • The MS program is shorter — 30 credit hours vs. 48 for the MBA. Therefore it takes less time to complete and costs less. The MS also is more focused. After 6 hours of accounting and statistics, you take 24 hours of marketing to complete the MS. The MBA has 21 hours of core requirements including economics, MIS, supply chain, finance, management, accounting, and statistics, along with 27 hours of electives.
    • Which is better for you? It comes down to your tastes, ambitions, and professional development needs. If you are focused on marketing and want your degree to brand you as a marketing person, the MS makes sense. If marketing is just your doorway to general management, or you feel that you need broad development across business disciplines, the MBA may be the way to go.
Can I complete the coursework at my own pace?
    • Yes and no. For the asynchronous course material, you can watch the lectures or complete the assignments around your busy schedule.
    • However, the program is cohort based, meaning that you and your classmates will take all of your classes together, in the same sections.
Can you tell me more about the residencies? How much time will I need to spend in Houston?
    • There will be two 1-week sessions at UH – one at the beginning, one in the middle and one at the end.
    • These weeks will be intense, experiential academic classes that also emphasize the value of building relationships with your peers and increasing your professional network.
Will the coursework be delivered synchronously or asynchronous?
    • Both! Each professor will deliver a combination of synchronous and asynchronous coursework and classes.
    • Outside of your 2 residencies, all coursework can be completed from the comfort of your own home.
Can I take these classes in-person?

The MS in Sales Leadership is intended to be an online program with low residency.

What will the capstone project consist of?

Throughout the program you will work 1 on 1 with a faculty member to create your own sales leadership solution to a real problem in your current or future career

The program is 12 months long.
