Richard Ess is a doctoral student in accounting at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, University of Houston. He received a BA in mathematics and physics from the University of New York at Buffalo. After graduating, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. He had a successful 20-year career working information systems issues around the world including deployments to Iraq and Africa, and honorably retired at the rank of Major. After retirement, he went to work for H&R Block where he worked as a Senior Tax Consultant. While working he attended The University of Southern Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accountancy, and served on the Board of Directors for Keesler Federal Credit Union.
